Last Wednesday night I was blessed to have a Shamanic journeying under the guidance of Doug Hetrick.
I've had contact with Doug before via the Chek Practitioner forum that used to exist in Yahoo Groups. He's a friend and mentor to Paul Chek.
Doug is a highly skilled chiropractor with 30 years plus experience in applied kinesiology, practices Vector Point Cranial Technique and is also well versed in Human Design (see www.humandesignamerica.com and http://www.humandesign.info/ for more info on that).
He's also a modern day Shaman.
In short, he's a wise and knowledgeable being.
A colleague of mine, Steve, had visited California, USA in January to study. A fellow attendee on his course introduced him to Doug and he had his own guided Shamanic Journey with him.
He was so happy with the result that he asked Doug to let him know when he was over in the UK, as he wanted others to share the experience.
Doug visits the UK 2-3 times a year to see family and was due to visit shortly, so Steve put the word out to around a dozen or so people who he thought would benefit from the journey (and who were 'ready' for it).
That's how I came to find myself on Wednesday night with a group of fairly like-minded people in the yoga studio at Excel Health & Performance (owned by my friend Craig). My brother was also in attendance.
Initially Doug talked us through the process and told us what we could expect and what could happen.
We said a blessing and 'smudged' the room - a shamanic ritual I was taught on my shamanic study course last summer. It involves burning sage and then using the smoke from it to purify yourself and the area you're in. It clears any 'negative' or 'stuck' energy away and allows better meditation and journeying to occur.
Prior to journeying (which took place individually), Doug used applied kinesiology to ascertain if we were truly ready for the experience. Some were ready, and some had to wait until later.
I sat, watched, meditated and relaxed whilst others journeyed. Some people saw beautiful landscapes, others saw people (their angels and guides according to them), others saw amazing, pure colours, some were very vocal (and scared) initially until they relaxed into the journey whilst some just dove straight into the experience and let themselves be taken as deep as possible (that'd be me then).
I find it difficult to explain my experience. I don't recall seeing incredible landscapes, colours or many people (except for my late Father towards the end of my journey).
Instead, what I felt was an immense sense of love, bliss, safety and protection. I came away with the knowledge that I am always protected, always guided, always loved and that there's nothing (I repeat....nothing) to worry about in any way.
That's my own, very personal experience. Those who want the in-depth details are welcome to contact me by email directly, by leaving a comment or by the website.
Stay well and happy (there's no reason not to be).
